Ben McLachlan
Knife maker from Adelaide, South Australia.
I've always had a keen interest in hunting, fishing, cooking wild game and the outdoors. I started making knives in as a hobby to complement those pursuits. Around 2015 it evolved into a small business that I work on part time. I also work as a luthier building and repairing musical instruments. Check out my page for that here.
I had an accident with a table saw around the same time I was getting into knife making, and cut off three fingers on my right hand. The doctors re-attached two but I lost the third, leaving me with a stump. That's where the idea for the name came from.
I work from home, and build my knives from from a range of high quality steels.
I collect, cut and stabilize all my own timber for handles.
I also tan my own leather for sheaths and accessories from the skins from game I hunt.
