Hunters Axe 5160 Redgum

A lightweight compact axe designed for butchering in the field without being too heavy or bulky. These are great for splitting the brisket, pelvis and cutting ribs off game animals. I’ve also used them for cutting scull caps from goats and deer and taking the jaws out of pigs. Will also handle chopping small trees and branches easily if kept sharp.

The blade is made from 6mm thick 5160 spring steel, which is an excellent steel for high impact tools. I harden the blade to 58hrc, and it will hold a much sharper edge than cheaper mass produced hatchets.
It has a redgum handle and comes with a wattle bark tanned, goat leather sheath.

Weighs 355 grams and the handle is 310mm long.
